Making votive candles are fun and exciting! Votive candles are a simple way to add ambiance and great scents into your home decor. The Soy Farm Candles have beautifully crafted scents that are sure to please any scent-a-holic.
Follow these easy steps to make your very own votive candles:
Prepare your votive candle molds by wiping them out using a paper towel and some rubbing alcohol. Be careful as the lip of the mold is quite sharp!
Center one votive wick pin in each mold. This will make a hole in each votive which will allow you to insert a pre-tabbed wick after the candle is made.
Using a clean pouring pitcher, melt one pound Votive Wax in a double boiler or hot plate.
When wax reaches 185 degrees, add 1 ounce Fragrance Oil and remove from heat. Stir gently and carefully for about a minute or so.
At 175 degrees, slowly pour the colored and fragrance wax up to the lip of each votive mold. Votive wax will shrink as it cools and will need a second pour the next day. We like to take the leftover colored and fragrance wax and pour it into a labeled paper cup. Then when you're ready to do the re-pour, tear the paper away and place the solid wax in the pouring pitcher to reheat.
Heat the leftover wax to 190 degrees. This higher temperature will help the wax adhere to the solid and cooled votive.
Carefully pour the wax to fill in the sink hole that has developed and all the way to the lip of the mold covering the first pour.
Allow your candles to cool completely.
Remove the votive from the mold. They usually come out very easily, but if not, place them in the refrigerator for a few minutes to allow the wax to contract.
Once the candle has been removed from the mold, flip the candle over and press or tap the top of the wick pin firmly until it releases. (Make sure you don't do this step on a counter top that could be damaged.
